Computrains

A new demonstration layout created by Roland Wood, showing how to add computer control to your DCC layout.

Is computer control the next big step-change in railway modelling?

This N gauge layout can demonstrate one way to link a computer to a DCC layout.  Although a fully scenic, exhibition layout in its own right, the demonstration focuses is on the movement of trains; the electrics and the computer software.

Ever wondered how it's done?  We can give short presentations (normally every hour), followed by running the layout with 9 trains, or more, under the computer's control.  Visitors can also control some trains while the computer controls others.  We can show how versatile computer control can be.

Computrains is now modelled in N gauge, (although computer control is applicable to most gauges).  This new layout has an 5m x 3m operating area footprint.  2 x 13amp sockets are required within 2 metres of the layout.  This layout requires 2 operators and is transported in a small hire van.

As members of a railway modelling club, we appreciate the need to keep exhibition costs to a minimum.  We have found we can often transport two (or even 3) layouts for the cost of one.  Contact our Club Secretary for more information.
